What we have done over the years.

The Scouting Program began in the U.S. in 1910 and Country

Club Christian Church began sponsoring Scouting Feb. 23, 1923,

almost immediately after the church was founded. It is not hard to

believe that the Scouting units at Country Club Christian Church are

the longest tenured, continuously active groups in our history when

you consider that the primary missions of the church and of Scouting

are so similar. Helping parents shape the character and values of over

100 million citizens has been the legacy of Scouting’s past and is its

guiding principle going forward. With its commitment to the outdoors as a great background in

which to teach leadership, self reliance, teamwork, and service to others, Scouting adapts to the

needs of modern day youth, offering new and exciting adventures as well as time-tested citizenship

and emergency preparedness skills.

Today the Scouts and leaders of Cub Pack 84 and Scout Troop 84 as well as all other

Scouts and Scouters from our church are here to thank the congregation for its longtime support.

At Pack 84’s Blue & Gold Lunch today we will celebrate Webelos Scouts graduating into the Boy

Scout Troop. Our Cub Pack and Scout Troop are healthy, active, and under great leadership.

One hundred three years after the nation’s first Eagle Scout Award was earned (in 1913),

new, independent research demonstrates the significant, positive impact Eagle Scouts have on society

every day. The study conducted by Baylor University, Merit Beyond the Badge, found that Eagle

Scouts are more likely than men who have never been in Scouting to:

• Have higher levels of planning and preparation skills, be goal-oriented, and network with

others

• Be in a leadership position at their place of employment or local community

• Report having closer relationships with family and friends

• Volunteer for religious and nonreligious organizations

• Donate money to charitable groups

• Work with others to improve their neighborhoods
